Summary:
The System Engineer will assist in building, deploying, and maintaining IT infrastructure solutions for projects in the Defence and Public Security sectors. The role involves evaluating IT infrastructure products, managing deployment and integration activities, and supporting system optimization and security. Domain knowledge in enterprise data networks and cybersecurity is highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in evaluating and recommending IT infrastructure products that meet project or customer requirements.
- Support the deployment, integration, and testing of IT infrastructure solutions at the system level.
- Collaborate with engineers from various disciplines (software, cybersecurity, integration) to deliver turnkey systems or proof-of-concept initiatives.
- Monitor infrastructure services, perform availability management, and resolve operational issues.
- Create and maintain technical documentation on operations, audit best practices, troubleshooting, and knowledge base.
- Manage the system recovery process, including backup/restore of infrastructure services and critical server data.
- Participate in failover and disaster recovery exercises for the IT infrastructure.
- Deploy security fixes on infrastructure services according to enterprise vulnerability and patching strategies.
- Administer servers, VMware/Hyper-V platforms, and domain controllers/LDAP servers.
- Optimize system performance and participate in system capacity planning.
Requirements:
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related disciplines.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant IT experience in deploying and managing IT infrastructure systems.
- Knowledge of Windows Server 2016/2019, Linux, VMware/Hyper-V virtualization, and Azure Cloud.
- Familiarity with infrastructure best practices, system technologies, and system engineering methodologies.
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity technologies is desirable.
- Technical certifications in cloud and system technologies (e.g., CCNA, Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate, VCP, VMCE, CEH) are advantageous.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Motivated team player with attention to detail, capable of working independently as well.
