Tanker Operations Superintendent
Job Description
- Oversee and support a team of Vessel operators.
- Support Operators / Marne Superintendent in OPS related matters of fleet vessels
- Represent principles / managers as / when required for interactions with OM's, regulatory authorities and industry events (as required)
- Oversee / Assist to ensure that the Marine databases are updated with correct valid info at all times (OCIMF (VPQ), Marine databases (SIRE, Q88, SIS3, CDI), etc as required.)
- Assist with production of required OPS department statistics + Operation dept related documentation required for Management Reviews.
- To ensure compliance with voyage instruction and to guide vessel master as required.
- To ensure compliance operational related parameters in accordance to the governing CP.
- Monitor fleet vessel movement and circulate / update other Depts to facilitate arrangements as required
- Monitor and review actual fuel consumption of vessels against budgeted consumption to ensure cost effectiveness.
- Proactive approach to handling possible Vessel claims related claims (Monitoring vessel's performance (at sea and in port)
- Oversee and Conduct calculations, communication to contest, counter or respond to dispute against counterparty such as cargo damage or shortage, lay-time, underperformance etc
- Oversee and ensure management of voyage related documentation, and operation related vessel specific data for Fleet vessels.
- Entering vessel and voyage data into business applications.
- Oversee and assist with compilation of Insurance Claim documentation for fleet vessels.
- Coordination with Master / Charterers regarding unplanned stoppages / repairs. Including follow up for OFF/ON Hire reports and instructions to master's regarding Vessel side reports (to external parties) (Under guidance from GM / Technical Manager)
- Monitor and support all vessels on operational issues (Loading / discharging / tank cleaning / grade change)
- Assist with post fixture activities as required (Cargo documentation (BL's / LOI's, Cargo quantity issues, Additional Insurance requirements (AWRP / KnR)
- Bunker ROB / Requirements of the vessel. Including notification to charterers (if required) and Intake quantity + segregation onboard. (Under guidance from Tech Supt and advise from Master as required)
- Agency appointment (as required) on owners behalf.
- Collect Customer Feedback.
Requirements
- A degree or qualification in maritime related studies / Master or Chief Officer COC
- Sailing experience of minimum 2 years on ocean going tanker vessels as a Chief Officer, Chemical tanker experience is preferred.
- Similar experience of the same position, 2 - 3 years in other tanker company would be beneficial
- Understanding in the tanker shipping industry from commercial operations and technical aspects
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the maritime regulatory environment as it relates to tankers.
- A sound understanding of regulatory and cultural aspects of key ports where ships discharge and load cargo
- Understanding of standard charter party terms and contracts
- Experience in team management.
- Good team player, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently.
Proficiency in spoken English
