Job Description

Pedagogy:

Employing effective pedagogy that enables students to become successful learners who achieve personal excellence by:

. Building learning-focused relationships

. Empowering students to become or prepare to be independent learners

. Using assessment information to plan progression for the differing needs of learners in the PLP programme

. Using appropriate assessment tools for formative and summative assessment

. Providing high quality feedback to learners

. Encouraging students to reflect on their learning

. Engaging students in the construction of their learning processes

. Involving parents in their students learning through regular parent-teacher dialogue, writing and sharing with parents IEP and conducting one on one PLP parent teacher conferences each term

. Liaising with class teachers to identify, assess and draw up individual PLP Programmes that support learning

. Create individual timetables that support learning for students in the PLP Programme

. Plan lessons for individual students in the PLP Programme

. Suggest and be proactive in making suggestions to improve the POP Programme tot eh Principal

Work in collaboration with any other team members in the PLP programme.

Curriculum:

. Demonstrating a high level of relevant curriculum knowledge as it relates to the students being supported in the PLP Programme

. Incorporating relevant thinking and reflective skills into the PLP programme lessons

. Assessment, recording and reporting on the work of students

. Teaching assigned individual students including the supervision of classes for absence cover

. Working with colleagues to ensure continuity and progression of students in the PLP Programme

. Setting appropriate individual student targets in line with the school and departmental targets/policy

. Undertaking appropriate training including INSET days at the start of each term

. Promoting and participating in your own continuous professional development:

. Maintenance of a good standard of discipline among students with due respect to their health and safety

. Be responsible for the overall performance of your teaching groups under the Every Child Matters banner:

to encourage students to be safe and healthy

to encourage them to be happy and enjoy your subject

to encourage students to make a positive contribution to lessons and achieve economic well being

to act on student or parental concerns

Additional Professional Duties:

. Actively engaging in teacher learning and development

. Continually seeking to improve learning and teaching strategies

. Developing knowledge and skills related to primary education, English as a Second Language students and students who need supported curricula activities

. Actively engaging in the school's appraisal procedures

. Ensuring an orderly and supportive environment:

. Participating in and supporting the school's positive policies and general ethos of respect for all

. Ensuring the organisation of resources and the classroom environment are optimum for learning Co-curricular activities:

. Being involved in Co or Extra Curricular Activities to enhance the school experience for learners

. Participating in Residential excursions as required

. Undertaking duties as required other projects, duties and responsibilities:

. Having a working knowledge of teachers professional duties and legal liabilities

. Operating at all times within the stated policies and practices of the school

. Establishing effective and appropriate relationships with colleagues and parents

. Setting a good example through presentation and personal and professional conduct

. Co-operating with other staff to ensure a sharing and effective usage of resources to the benefit of the school and learners

. Contributing to the corporate life of the school through effective participation in meetings and management systems necessary to coordinate the management of the school

. Taking part in marketing and liaison activities such as Open Days and events with other stakeholders

. Any other reasonable request from a manager to undertake work of a similar level that is not specified in this job description.

Job Specification

. More than 5 years of experience in a similar or related environment

. At least a Bachelor's degree in Education/ Teaching or equivalent, recognised by the CPE/MOE in Singapore.

. Prior teaching experience is a must

. Demonstrate an acute and deep understanding of a primary school curriculum

. Proficiency in EAL testing and reporting systems

. Teaching or pedagogical skills.

. Passion for developing young learners.

. Administrative and organisational skills.

. Good interpersonal and communication skills.

. Analytical skills.

. Leadership skills.

. Good composure and disposition.

. Computer literacy in Google Docs
