Job Purpose
The Technical Officer, Track Infrastructure Maintenance & Operational Engineering is responsible to perform Preventive and Corrective Maintenance of the railway infrastructure system. Subject to deployment, the scope can include the track, third rail, point, viaduct, tunnel, station and/or depot infrastructure assets. To operate equipment, locomotives and/or specialized track maintenance vehicles, to perform the inspection and maintenance works. perform fault attendance, fault diagnosis tests, troubleshooting, repairs and/or modifications to the railway infrastructure assets. Assist in the preparation of tools, machine, equipment, spares, and checklist required for the inspection and maintenance activities. Supervise the work of contractors and stakeholders in ensuring compliance to safety and operating requirements and to conduct training in his/her area of expertise as required.
Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of a Technical Officer are as listed below. Note that the list is not comprehensive and related duties and responsibilities may be assigned from time to time.
- Work in any of SMRT depots, tracks, and facilities.
- Perform Preventive and Corrective on railway infrastructure assets.
- Operate equipment, locomotives and/or specialized track maintenance vehicles within depot and mainline tracks.
- Ensure the railway infrastructure system defects are identified, classified, and mitigated/rectified promptly.
- Ensure that railway infrastructure defects are recorded and reported accurately in accordance with the maintenance procedures or OEM technical manual.
- Ensure all works are done in a safe manner in accordance with the organisational procedures or OEM technical manual.
- Ensure that the railway infrastructure system defects and maintenance records are properly documented and updated in the Maintenance Tracking System.
- Assist supervisor to conduct training as required.
- Perform Possession Master (PM) / Person-In-Charge (PIC) / ground shunter duty.
- Operate company forklift and/or aerial work platform.
- Drive company vehicle for the purpose of work.
- Observe and report any safety concerns at the workplace.
- Any other ad-hoc duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Work Experience
- Nitec/Higher Nitec in Mechanical/Electrical/Civil & Structural Engineering or equivalent from a recognised institiution.
- Able to perform rotating/fixed shifts work.
