Responsibilities:
Managing Projects in accordance with Thales internal guidelines ensuring it addresses the objectives of the business.
Liaise closely and collaboratively with functional teams to ensure efficient delivery of projects. Particularly, coordinating with internal cross functional teams in order to maximize efficiency and ensure Projects outcomes meets the objectives.
Acquiring and implementing knowledge about the business policies & practices, business intelligence tools, interact with contracts, finance, quality, PMO and other lines of business.
Generate Project dashboard and scorecards for the team for review.
Stakeholder management with the leadership support and help business track KPIs/Focus areas for the year.
Develop KPIs and conduct analysis to provide early alert to the business of all significant emerging variances and risks. Develop and execute mitigation plans to counter variances and risks.
Coordinating and negotiating input from partners and oversees subcontractors.
Developing customer relationships by ensuring products and services delivered exceed where possible, customer expectations.
Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence.
Procure adequate resources to achieve project objectives in planned time frames.
Implement governance standards, including tracking, monitoring and track status of project team and program deliverables.
Assess and understand end-to-end process for better efficiencies and effectiveness and establish best practices.
Reporting and tracking of projects, staffing, financials, SLAs, forecasting and other key business metrics in business plan versus actuals.
Manage risks, changes and impact analysis and identify key areas of improvement.
End to end project deliverables & documentation, project control & success and handover to Services.
Ensure engineering activities are well managed within constraints of bids/projects, approved architecture, design policy, contracts, and company quality requirements.
Lead collaborative discussion and co-engineering between internal teams, vendors and customers to analyse, prioritise and validate stakeholders requirements.
Ensure that engineering scope, plans and activities satisfy customer requirements, and are delivered on time, on budget and with the required quality.
Work closely with Design Authority to oversee and approve the outcome of evaluation studies on design alternatives, and to provide advice to both the customer and internal technical teams.
Through broad consultation, ensure the production of the required documentation in support of the project, to the satisfaction of the customer and internal senior management.
Liaise with customers on technical, architectural and procedural issues as required, ensure that scope creep is avoided.
Define the engineering work breakdown structure, project organisation structure, tasks schedule, engineering KPIs, and associated engineering tasks. Tailor as required and ensure all baseline requirements are met.
Define the strategy for development, build increments, validation, and project commissioning.
Follow up closely on defined KPIs and ensure issues discovered (such as risks of changes, schedule, anomalies, etc) are addressed promptly according to different project phases.
Perform periodic reporting to internal senior management and customer according to Thales methodology (Chorus) and common methods such as SAFe/SCRUM.
Ensure the implementation of multi-project synergies and lessons learnt, in order to optimize cost of technical solutions.
Manage engineering risks & opportunities during bids and project phase, guarantees programme commitments, including those flown down to subcontractors and partners.
Optimise technical work against costs, schedule and risks from design to validation and acceptance of the solution.
Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed, in conjunction with the functional Engineering Head or Director.
Manages Work Package Managers (WPM) and Integration Verification, Validation and Qualification (IVVQ) Manager to ensure successful completion of respective milestones.
Other duties as directed by the Project Manager or functional Engineering Head.
Requirements:
Degree qualified in computer science, information technology, engineering, project management or other suitable discipline.
At least 5 years Project Management experience.
Minimum of 10 years experience in a Senior Engineering role
Experience working within a Systems Engineering lifecycle
Experience in IT/security/C2/defence related projects from a Systems Engineering perspective
PMP Certification or equivalent.
Proven and effective leadership with a high level of interpersonal and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams across geographies and time zones.
Basic project finance understanding.
Strong internal stakeholder management in a matrix organization.
Strong customer focus and external relationship management.
Good knowledge on how large projects are managed
Strong motivation to be involved in all phases of a project life cycle, from bids to project completion
