Key Responsibilities
- Achieve high standards of safe and pollution-free operations of vessels by ensuring that company policies related to Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality Assurance (HSEQA) are effectively implemented.
- Keep abreast of international regulations / legal requirements and ensure assigned vessels comply to these.
- Maintain contact with classification societies, shipyards, repair firms, industry groups, trade associations, equipment manufacturers and designers, government bodies and other relevant organisations.
- Propose annual operating budget for assigned vessels by taking view of forthcoming repairs & maintenance, statutory, Flag and Port Requirements and maintain vessels within budgets.
- Ensure vessels operate within budgets by closely checking day-to-day expenses of the vessels and by monitoring inventory control of stores and spares.
- Closely monitor and review vessel's conditions to ensure that she complies with Port State Control and Oil Majors regulations at all times.
- Effectively and efficiently carry out routine vessel inspections, dry-docking and major repairs.
- Plan and implement corrective actions for defects that may exist in the vessels and ensure compliance with planned maintenance schedule for assigned vessel.
- Monitor and ensure that all applicable vessel certifications are valid and surveys / renewals are planned well in time.
- Verify all incoming reports from the vessels and identify areas which require immediate attention and take corrective actions.
- Ensure fleet vessels performance is within charter party requirements and company goals.
- Ensure that all technical reports required by various stakeholders are submitted on time.
- Prepare all necessary documentation pertaining to Hull and Machinery and P and I insurance claims for vessels under their charge.
- Prepare repair specifications and coordinate with various repair firms for effecting major repairs, if any, during, the voyage without incurring delay to vessel.
- Monitor and ensure appropriate resource allocation by regularly reviewing the Work and Rest Hours of personnel on board.
- Maintain cordial relations with senior officers and general wellbeing of seafarers onboard assigned vessel.
- Supervise Purchase Executives on their day-to-day responsibilities.
- Carry out Vessel Inspections as per the schedule timely and file the report.
- Carry out audit of HSEQA system elements as directed by the DPA/ Management Representative/Management Appointee.
- Report system non-conformities and verify that corrective and preventive actions are implemented and found effective.
Requirements
- Preferably with COC Class 1
- Preferably with least 10 years of sailing experience on Offshore vessels (i.e., Anchor Handling and Towing (AHTS), Offshore Supply Vessel and Dive Support Vessel), out of which minimum 2 years as a Chief Engineer.
- Trained in major overhauls of marine diesel engines.
- Experience of carrying out dry dock of OSVs
- Has good troubleshooting knowledge in electrical / automation.
- Must have technical knowledge to troubleshoot problems arising in the DP systems.
- With ability to demonstrate good time management, leadership and organisational skills.
