Technology Consultant (Kubernetes/Rancher))
Job Description
The Role
SUSE Consulting team have deep knowledge and extensive experience in delivering Linux and Enterprise Container Management (ECM) solutions to enterprise customers. SUSE Technical Consultants are our subject matter experts and are given the technical training needed to ensure we provide world class consulting services to our SUSE customers.
A SUSE Technical Consultant will solve customer's business challenges through hands-on technical implementation with recommended SUSE best practices. Youll need to have a balance of solid technical experience, knowledge of open-source technologies and solutions, and the ability to identify and solve issues at the enterprise level.
A Technical Consultants technical skills and capabilities need to be balanced with very strong inter-personal skills, be able to work closely with our customers and become their trusted advisor.
This is an individual contributor role, frequent travel to customer sites will be a requirement.
Job Requirements
Critical to achieving excellent results will be to have in-depth understanding about Kubernetes, and the whole Cloud Native ecosystem in general.
Be able to articulate key values of SUSEs offerings: products/solutions/strategies.
Guide customer in building scalable and optimal solutions using SUSE Linux and ECM products with best practices.
Successful, collaborative delivery of customer projects as a technical lead.
Assist to troubleshoot and provide resolution or workaround to customers technical issues during project engagements.
Evaluate unique and complex deployments and make recommendations for optimization.
Form strong business relationships with customers at various levels of the organization.
Ability to work in customers environment and may at times be required to work outside of standard business hours.
Ability to handle tense/stressful situations regarding service outages and issue resolution.
Interact with SUSE Customer Support team as required to meet customers needs.
Develop partnership with and assist SUSE Sales team.
Continuously learn, grow, and adapt to new skills and technologies.
Active engagement and knowledge sharing with our internal and external communities on lessons learned, best practices, and how-Tos.
Singaporean candidate with G50 security clearance is preferred
Experience & Skills
A strong combination of technical and customer-facing skills.
Knowledge of Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) cloud solutions.
Proven experience with Docker containers and Kubernetes.
Proven experience with cloud management and IT automation solutions.
Competent comprehension of enterprise architecture and strategic business drivers.
Experience deploying and managing Rancher/Kubernetes/OpenShift clusters or cloud-hosted Kubernetes at scale.
Familiarity with multiple CNIs and CSIs.
Experience migrating legacy application workloads to Kubernetes.
Experience with source code management tools like Git or SVN.
Experience developing application deployment workflows (CI/CD) with Kubernetes.
Experience working in DevOps environment.
Experience in adopting Service Mesh (e.g. Istio) and/or API gateways on Kubernetes is a plus.
Experience in managing Container security with tools such as NeuVector, Aqua, Sysdig, Prisma Cloud is another big plus.
Very good written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to convey complex information to customers clearly and concisely.
Ability to manage multiple issues and projects with shifting priorities and timelines.
Personal Attributes
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Experience in troubleshooting in a technical environment.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Extensive experience in relevant technologies and customer environments.
Extensive experience in high-tech or software company
CKA, CKAD, CKS certifications are a big plus
Other relevant industry qualification is a plus.
