ABL is seeking an experienced Tow Masters to join our team as Independent Contractors. This role is for professionals who have a proven track record in managing the towing of Jack-Up Rigs, Tender Barges, and Semi-Submersibles.

What you will be doing.

As our Tow Master, your role involves meticulous pre-move planning, including site and risk assessments, logistics coordination, and ensuring compliance with all permits and regulations. You oversee the mooring, rigging, and execution of the tow, maintaining clear communication with all parties and managing stability through ballasting. Additionally, you enforce strict safety protocols, prepare for emergencies, and lead post-move activities, including inspections and reporting, all while adhering to company QHSE policies and procedures: In addition, you will:

Pre-Move Planning: Conduct site and risk assessments; coordinate logistics and ensure compliance with permits and regulations.
Mooring and Rigging: Supervise anchor handling, and mooring arrangements, and manage ballasting to maintain stability.
Execution of the Tow: Oversee towing operations, ensure effective communication, and manage navigation to avoid hazards.
Safety Management: Implement safety protocols and maintain emergency preparedness throughout the operation.
Post-Move Activities: Ensure accurate rig positioning, conduct inspections, and prepare detailed reports.
Coordination with Authorities: Obtain necessary permits and liaise with stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance.
Leadership and Supervision: Manage and train the towing crew to ensure effective and safe operations.
Compliance: Adhere to company QHSE policies, procedures, and work systems at all times.
The role will be based in Southeast Asia and the wider APAC, and the incumbent has the right to work and reside in any APAC Region and also meets the Standard of Competence specified in Section A-II/2 of the STCW Code or higher.

What we are looking for.

The ideal candidate will have extensive offshore rig moving experience, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of rig positioning, anchoring, and risk management. The ideal candidate will ensure safe and efficient rig moves while adhering to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements. In addition, you will have:

Sea-Going Experience: Extensive background in maritime operations, ideally with experience as a captain, marine pilot, or in a leadership role on offshore vessels.
Offshore Rig Moving Experience: Proven experience in towing and positioning offshore structures, with expertise in anchoring systems, rig stability, and rig relocation.
Medical Fitness: Must meet the medical fitness standards set by the Field Operators.
Rig Positioning and Anchor Handling: Expertise in precise positioning of jack-up rigs, including ballasting and preloading techniques to ensure stability and secure anchoring.
Risk Management: Knowledge of Rig Positioning Diagrams (RPDs), punch-through risks, and punch-through recovery strategies.
Leadership and Team Management: Strong leadership skills to guide and motivate the crew, ensuring clear communication, effective conflict resolution, and a collaborative working environment to enhance safety and efficiency.

Desirable:

Certifications: STCW, IMO Rig Move Guidelines, or equivalent offshore certifications.
Safety Management: Experience in leading safety protocols, risk assessment, and emergency planning during rig moves.
Marine Engineering: Expertise in jack-up rig mechanics, ballasting, rigging, and towing equipment.
Navigation & Weather: Proficiency in marine charts, weather reports, and route planning.
Crew Supervision: Experience leading marine and rigging teams, ensuring effective communication and teamwork.Crisis Management: Proven skills in handling equipment failures and adverse weather during offshore operations.
