UTEC is currently recruiting for a full-time, permanent Training and Competence Specialist position based in Loyang Crescent, Singapore. The Training & Competence Specialist will be responsible for all training and development of UTEC's employees. They will partner with all UTEC Business Units to ensure teams are performing to the required standards, and that any development needs are addressed. They will also oversee the offshore competency framework and develop and manage graduate and trainee schemes, reporting to the Group Offshore Resources Manager.
Duties/Responsibilities
Competency Scheme
- Manage and oversee the UTEC Competency Scheme
- Liaise with UTEC Business Units to ensure all relevant personnel have valid competency certification in place or are enrolled in scheme and working through required competencies
- Manage submissions to the competence platform and liaise with personnel to complete required submission work
- Ensure training is in place for Competency Scheme Assessors and suitable number of personnel are qualified for this role
- Ensure that UTEC Competency Scheme is line with latest IMCA guidelines and wider industry expectations
- Keep the competency scheme under review and seek areas for improvement
Training
- Ensure all personnel have completed the required training for their role
- Development and delivery of internal training in line with Company objectives and UTEC Business Unit requirements
- Identification and facilitation of external training and management of external training providers
- Creation of training plans / matrices relevant to job grades within the UTEC competency scheme
- Assist UTEC Business Units maintain training records / plans for personnel
- Liaise with Lead Surveyor and members of their department with regarding to new technology and how personnel will be trained to ensure they are competent
- Liaise with Head of QHSE to ensure training plans / matrices are compliant with the required legislation / regulations
- Implement and maintain any online training platform employed by UTEC
- Review UTEC Technical content of online training platform and ensure this is up to date and valid
- Liaise with UTEC Business Units to establish any additional technical content that requires to be produced and uploaded
- Ensure training records and certificates are updated and stored in the crewing management system
- In conjunction with Group Offshore Resources Manager manage training budget globally and within UTEC Business Units
Appraisal Scheme and Succession Planning
- In conjunction with Group Offshore Resources Manager ensure there is a comprehensive appraisal scheme in place
- Liaise with UTEC Business Units to ensure development requirements relating to personnel highlighted in appraisals are addressed
- Work with Group Offshore Resources Manager and Regional Operations Managers to facilitate the development of personnel identified in the succession plan
Graduate and Apprentice Recruitment
- Create relationships with universities/colleges to allow access to feed graduate / apprentice intake
- Attend Industry recruitment events to promote UTEC
- Develop and manage graduate and/or trainee schemes
- Act as point of contact for graduate trainees and apprentices for the duration of their tenure
- Facilitate apprentice assessments and track progress
Additional Responsibilities
- Adhere strictly to the Company's policies including, but not limited to, anti-bribery and Foreign Corrupt Practices
- Manage the relationship with key suppliers of training and competency services
- Perform other duties or tasks as assigned
Requirements
- Survey or Geomatics related Degree
- Experience of training related role preferred
- Experience creating/working with offshore competency schemes
- Experience delivering face-to-face training to both offshore and onshore employees
- Experience managing web-based learning tools
Personal Development
- Undertake agreed training and development in order to provide a framework of knowledge and skills required to perform effectively in UTEC
- Participate in annual and regular performance appraisal with Line Manager identifying and agreeing personal development and action plans
