Job Summary
The VOS shall work closely with the Project Manager and Offshore Manager / back deck supervisor taking the lead and responsibility so that all offshore spreads are prepared and ready for offshore operations with a particular attention to mobilisation plans, SATs, certification, bridging documentation.
The VOS shall ensure both an effective and efficient execution of the agreed work during preparation and execution of a project in such manner that the QHSE, technical and contractual requirements are met. This role requires VOS to maintain effective communication with project team members and, critical equipment suppliers. The VOS shall engage with 3rd party naval arch for design of structural sea fastening for project equipment, liaise with class on inspections and select & supervise the sub-contractors during mobilizations and demobilisations.
About the Role:
The Vessel Operations Superintendent role has the responsibility to organize, lead and support vessel day to day operations such as:
Assist the Vessel Resource Manager as instructed and ensuring project equipment is mobilized and demobilized in an efficient and timely manner.
Liaising with project manager, equipment resource manager and subject matter experts to ensure that all pre-requisites and activities for planned mobilisation of geophysical and geotechnical equipment are executed timely.
Actively involved in Action Tracker Coordination Meetings and Corrective Action Registers are maintained and closed out in a timely manner.
Oversees and maintains the inventory of the parts for a specific project with the support of the back deck supervisor / offshore manager / technical coordinator. Reorder project consumables as necessary timely.
Supervises shore contractors for maintenance, mobs and demob activities and ensures logistics and procurement plans are planned and conducted safely and efficiently in coordination with the central logistics team.
Leads vessel readiness and port call activities such as bunkering, agency selection, logistics of spares and consumables with purchasers, offshore manager / party chief and project manager.
Prepare mob/demob plan and activity scope, liaise with procurement to select contractors including naval arch. Prepare basic deck layout using ACAD and lead the 3rd party naval arch to obtain equipment sea fastening drawings. Submit the sea fastening drawings and calculations to class as necessary for approvals. Arrange for class surveyor inspections.
Review equipment Installation structural / piping drawings for mobilisation and demobilisation. Ensure compliance to the inventory required for project specific tools with vessel equipment.
Interfacing with Master, Technical Supt and Vessel Manager for owned vessels to ensure that all mobilisation and port call planning concerning project equipment is carried out as planned on time and on budget.
Leads marine assurance processes for the vessels with support from the vessel resource manager, project, and marine team.
Working closely with procurement teams to manage vendors, raise purchase requisitions follow up with goods receipts (GRN) and vet service invoices from the vendors for works performed onboard.
Leading efforts with the operations and project teams on keeping on top of leading and lagging Quality and HSE KPIs
Core day to day activities
Execute any specific mobilization activities, including development of procedures, task plans, lift plans, as instructed.
Manages and monitors vessels preparation, if needed - On-hire surveys to the satisfaction of the project team and to satisfy COMPANYs assurance process.
Liaise with various local subcontractors as necessary, in conjunction with SCM / Procurement teams.
Identify in advance need of additional support from installation engineers for critical activities,
Ensure that all work performed complies with the requirements of the Project and is carried out in accordance with the rules and the methods of the Company.
Ensure that all aspects of project Safety, Health & Quality are implemented on each of the work sites and report to Projects HSE organisation as necessary.
Supervises the 3rd party contractors during mob/demob and maintenance activities onboard the vessels in line with companys QHSSE policy.
Coordinate with logistics department to ensure spares and consumables arrive the mob/demob port ahead of schedule.
Attend daily conference call with project manager and vessel to ensure regular follow up of project needs in terms of personnel, equipment, planning during mobilisation, fieldwork, and demobilisation phases.
Ensure project consumables such as operational equipment (internal and external), survey consumables required on top of vessel standard consumables are defined and delivered to the vessel timely by vendors.
Supporting activities and tasks delegated by Vessel Resource Manager in marine assurance process compliance requirements.
Plan and schedule all mobilization and demobilization activities on the allocated existing / new build / 3rd party vessels. Ensure that all stakeholders stick to a prescribed plan and deviations are addressed proactively.
Check that delivered project equipment are function-tested and calibrated with appropriate certification.
Validate sequence and associated schedule changes initiated by the project
About you:
The Vessel Operations Superintendent (VOS) will be a qualified and experienced Marine / Mechanical Engineer / Naval Architect with operational and maintenance knowledge of electrical, and mechanical (hydraulics) systems. The VOS should possess a minimum 5 years experience coordinating and supervising mobilization and demobilisation activities onboard offshore vessels while working for an IRM or EPC/EPCI marine contractor.
