Job Summary:
Our client, a regional bank is looking for a strategic and forward-thinking Vice President of Operational Excellence to lead strategy, planning, business performance management, and process optimization within their corporate and retail banking operations. This role will drive operational strategy, develop key performance metrics, and manage projects aimed at enhancing efficiency, compliance, and overall business performance. The ideal candidate will bring extensive operations experience, a strategic mindset, and a proven ability to lead large-scale initiatives across multiple banking functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Operational Strategy:
- Develop and execute operational strategies that align with overall business objectives, driving efficiency and scalability across banking operations.
- Create and manage short- and long-term strategic plans for operations, incorporating regulatory requirements, business needs, and industry trends.
- Work closely with executive leadership to establish operational priorities, KPIs, and benchmarks for performance improvement.
Business Performance Management:
- Design and implement performance management frameworks to track and enhance business outcomes across corporate and retail banking functions.
- Utilize data analytics and reporting to monitor performance, identify trends, and develop actionable insights for decision-making.
- Lead regular performance reviews, establishing a data-driven approach to business improvement and team accountability.
Process Optimization and Project Management:
- Identify and lead key process improvement initiatives to streamline workflows, reduce costs, and enhance service quality across banking operations.
- Oversee the end-to-end project management of strategic initiatives, ensuring successful execution, timely delivery, and adherence to budget.
- Implement project management best practices, including risk assessment, milestone tracking, and cross-functional collaboration to drive successful outcomes.
Stakeholder Engagement and Leadership:
- Partner with cross-functional teams, including product, technology, compliance, and risk, to ensure cohesive planning and effective execution of operational initiatives.
- Lead a team that drove operational excellence and continuous improvement, fostering a high-performance culture across banking operations.
- Engage with senior stakeholders to communicate progress, report on key metrics, and adjust plans as needed to meet evolving business goals.
Transformation and Change Management:
- Lead change management efforts to embed a culture of operational excellence, guiding teams through transitions and ensuring project buy-in.
- Drive digital transformation and automation initiatives within operations, using innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and support business growth.
- Develop and implement change management strategies to ensure seamless adoption of new processes and technologies with minimal disruption.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Operations, or a related field; advanced degree (e.g., MBA) is preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in banking operations, with a focus on corporate and retail banking; strong expertise in strategy, performance management, and process improvement.
- Proven success in leading large-scale projects, operational strategy planning, and performance management initiatives.
- Experience with data-driven performance management, analytics tools, and project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Lean, Six Sigma).
- Exceptional leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts and drive strategic conversations.
