Role Summary

With the continued potential of the SEA/K market and UMGs plans for growth in the region, the VP of People, Inclusion and Culture (PIC) SEA/K, will be a key Executive business partner, a member of the SEA/K leadership team and an enabler of the companys overall regional strategies. The VP of PIC will lead across Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and Korea.

The VP of PIC will not only lead and develop the capabilities of UMG PIC function in the region but will also play a pivotal role in enabling the growth of the commercial business, enhancing management expertise and strategically shaping and nurturing a forward-thinking and positive culture for the company - whilst directly supporting the various territory MDs, regional executives and the CEO of SEA/K.

Within the PIC function itself, this leader will oversee the whole PIC lifecycle and provide impactful end-to-end executive business partnering, whilst effectively designing and implementing new local processes and controls to facilitate transformational growth and ensuring best practice handling of Employee Relations issues. In addition to the regional specifics, the VP of PIC SEA/K will act as the focal point for the implementation for Global UMG people strategies, initiatives and systems whilst also helping ensure adherence to the UMG code of conduct.

This role is based in Singapore but the incumbent will be required to travel regularly to partner with management in the territories of the region effectively.

Your role:

Business Partnership:

Support the CEO of SEA (K), the SEA/K territory MDs and other regional executives, in enhancing all aspects of their organizational capabilities to build best practice business structures, drive company success and maximise the achievement of people and commercial objectives across SEA/K.

Strategic PIC Planning:

Continually assess the PIC needs of UMG operation in the region and along with the CEO of SEA/K and the SVP of PIC, develop a strategic plan to address the requirements of each location.
This will include the creation and maintenance of action plans covering (amongst other areas) talent acquisition, onboarding, learning & development, leadership and management development, employee relations, systems and administration.

Organisational Development:

Develop optimal structures and clear accountabilities, ensuring the right people are in the right roles to maximize team performance and achieve goals as the business and organization continues to evolve.
Ensure a cohesive talent acquisition philosophy for each market, and that the recruiting processes attracts the highest calibre of candidates for all positions.
Roll out effective management training processes to ensure business leaders are provided with appropriate tools

Code of Conduct Compliance / Policy development:
Ensure and enforce strict compliance with UMGs code of conduct and other business and PIC policies and procedures across each territory.
In conjunction with the SEA(K) CFO, the SVP of Legal and Business affairs and the UMG compliance team, act as a trusted and impartial guide to the CEO of SEA/K, the territory MDs and other executives to ensure they maintain proper adherence to the code of conduct and other compliance related policies.
Take ownership of and responsibility for, all significant ER issues in the region. Ensure proper process is followed for any ER scenario, escalating any issues or concerns appropriately where required.

Other Business Support:

Develop and maintain strong and effective working relationships with all colleagues and support cross-functional teamwork within the SEA(K) and Greater China region, the London based AMEA team and the UMG head office in L.A.
Partner with leadership to transfer and embed UMG culture to any acquisitions as appropriate.
Manage and implement solutions related to workforce analytics and HRIS. Ensure in partnership with the CFO OF SEA(K), that staff costs are managed effectively and in line with the overall company budget, plans and strategy.

Functional Management:

Build, develop and grow an efficient and effective PIC function that is aligned with the needs of the organisation, the company culture and serves as a true partner to the business.
Manage an effective PIC Dept ensuring the smooth running of each PIC element, the growth and development of all PIC employees and ensures the continued trust and confidence of the business as regards their work with the PIC function.

About you:


The VP of PIC - SEA/K, is a PIC professional and true business partner, with highly effective leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills. They will have a strong organisational development track record and a business mindset.

Ideal Experience

12+ years management experience in PIC, including PIC generalist and business partnering roles, with particular strengths in talent acquisition and embedding PIC processes.
Experience in learning & development, organizational development, employee relations, compliance, PIC administration, etc.
Experience in Media or sectors with similar business dynamics and requirements preferred.
Experience and understanding of matrixed and functional reporting relationships.
5-10+ years working experience in the SEA (K) region
Understanding of relevant labour and employment laws and regulations in Korea, Singapore, The Philippines, Malaysia, Indochina, Indonesia, Thailand & Vietnam (or the majority of these territories)
8+ years experience in a multinational or international corporate environment with exposure to stringent compliance and governance codes
Undergraduate degree in business or related field an advantage
Fluent in English and at least one local territory language (fluency in or understanding of more than one local language an advantage).
