The Workplace SHE Business Partner (Environmental Sustainability) will play a pivotal role in leading sustainability initiatives, driving environmental compliance, and ensuring continuous improvement in Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) practices. This position carries increasing responsibility for implementing internal sustainable solutions across the organization. Additionally, it actively involves building allies among thought leaders, authorities, and industry leaders to shape Environmental Sustainability policy, guidelines, and the regulatory framework in Singapore, positioning us as leaders in environmental responsibility and innovation.
The Opportunity
Lead Environmental Sustainability Initiatives
Leading environmental sustainability initiatives that align with corporate goals and improve the organization's ecological footprint. This includes planning, executing, and monitoring sustainability projects to ensure timely completion and alignment with objectives. The position also focuses on achieving and maintaining environmental certifications while actively participating in sustainability initiatives. Additionally, it emphasizes facilitating cross-departmental collaboration to integrate SHE and sustainability goals across the organization.
Championing Sustainability Through Engagement
Focuses on championing sustainability through active engagement and collaboration with key stakeholders, including government bodies, industry associations, and sustainability experts, to influence policy and regulatory development. It involves representing the organization at sustainability forums and conferences, building relationships with external partners, government agencies, and certification bodies to share best practices and drive joint initiatives. Regular communication with partners is essential to advance common goals in environmental responsibility and innovation, while staying informed on the latest trends, challenges, and innovations in the field of environmental sustainability.
Ensure Environmental Compliance and Performance
Ensuring environmental compliance and performance by monitoring adherence to local and international environmental laws and SHE standards. This includes conducting routine audits and inspections to verify compliance with regulations, as well as establishing and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) related to the organization's environmental impact, such as energy consumption, waste management, and carbon footprint. Additionally, the position involves analyzing data to provide actionable insights and recommendations aimed at reducing the environmental footprint and enhancing sustainability efforts.
Conduct Effective Training and Employee Engagement
Conducting effective training and employee engagement by organizing and delivering training sessions focused on SHE practices and environmental sustainability. It includes developing and implementing awareness campaigns to foster a culture of sustainability within the organization. Effective internal communication is prioritized to disseminate SHE policies, initiatives, and performance metrics across the organization. Additionally, the position requires preparing comprehensive reports on environmental sustainability performance, milestones, and achievements.
Support SHE Policy Development & Drive Continuous Improvement
Supporting the development of SHE policies by assisting in their creation and implementation, particularly in integrating sustainability into risk assessments and safety protocols. It involves regularly reviewing and updating environmental policies to align with changing regulations and industry best practices. Additionally, the position emphasizes identifying and implementing best practices for environmental sustainability in the workplace, as well as advocating for and integrating innovative solutions and technologies to enhance overall environmental performance and sustainability.
Who you are
You should hold a Bachelor's degree in Safety, Health and Environment or equivalent with at least 5+ years of experience in SHE, with a strong focus on environmental sustainability as well as Expertise in local and global SHE regulations, with experience in laboratory safety and biosafety preferred.
You should have In-depth knowledge of sustainability practices and regulations with proven experience leading or managing sustainability programs in a corporate setting.
You should have Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives with excellent communication and training abilities, especially in promoting sustainability awareness.
